[9] Clinical history must be provided. HLA-B*57:01 should be tested before starting patients on an Abacavir (ABC) containing regimen to reduce the risk of hypersensitivity reaction. HLA-B*57:01-positive patients should not be prescribed ABC and a positive status should be recorded as an ABC allergy in the patient’s medical record.
