What is an X-ray scan?
An X-ray is a quick procedure used to produce images of the inside of the body and is an effective way to identify joint problems.
The test exposes your body to a small dose of radiation to take images of bones, blood vessels, heart or lungs.

How does an X-ray work?
A beam of ionising radiation known as an X-ray is directed into the area being examined by an X-ray machine. Each type of tissue or organ in your body reacts differently to the X-rays as they go through it. This information is seen as shaded regions with a range of black to white on the X-ray image.
